The Medical Affairs Manager is a key member of the UK leadership team reporting directly into the UK Managing Director, providing strategic and operational medical input to the UK leadership team. This requires that the Medical Affairs Manager must have an expert knowledge of inflammatory bowel diseases, other diseases of the digestive system and health in general.
The Medical Affairs Manager leads a small Medical Affairs team of Medical and Scientific Liaison Managers (MSL), all of whom engage with health care professionals on a daily basis. The MSL team members are all highly qualified; PhD is the desired level of qualification within the Medical Affairs Team. The MSL team are non-promotional, involved in research projects, educational programmes, training, and presentation of scientific information. Working with the MSLs the Medical Affairs Manager will provide guidance and input into their team’s daily activities, as well as having a portfolio of their own projects. These projects can include:
The Medical Affairs team provide all internal medical training and are an integral part of our customer facing service providing continuing medical education.
The role involves frequent travel within the UK and Europe with occasional trips to the USA.
Ideally the Medical Affairs Manager will have a relevant PhD, and be a qualified Pharmacist or Medic. Applicants need not necessarily be PhD qualified, however they must then bring experience of working as a health care professional. Applicants who are not Pharmacists or Medic’s must have a relevant PhD in a life science and bring with them experience appropriate to the role.
Applicants are preferred to have at least one year’s experience working in industry as an MSL or Medical Affairs Manager, applicants without industry experience must be able demonstrate an understanding of the role and have relevant experience in the NHS.
