HSE & Sustainability Manager

The role of an Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Manager is crucial in ensuring workplace safety, environmental compliance, and employee health, and promoting sustainable practices within the organization.

Your key responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and stay updated on industry-specific standards and best practices, aligning the organization with legal and ethical responsibilities.
  • Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a company-wide HSE strategy and management system (including Swiss headquarters, European affiliates and Swiss manufacturing site) in compliance with applicable law and industry standards.
  • Identify, develop, and manage projects and sustainability initiatives across the organization to enhance occupational health and safety and protection of the environment.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify best practices in sustainability and recommend strategies for improvement. Create and maintain sustainability metrics and reporting.
  • Embrace the growing requirement of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) by creating and implementing ESG strategies and programs that align with regulations and standards by identifying and managing ESG risks and environmental impacts.
  • Single point of contact for employees and authorities regarding all HSE matters, including but not limited to environmental protection, explosion protection, fire protection, machine safety, health protection, and hazardous material safety.
  • Conduct internal and external HSE audits.
  • Develop, organize and conduct group-wide internal HSE trainings.
  • Effectively communicate HSE goals to both management and employees. Collaborate with the various departments to seamlessly implement safety measures throughout the organization.

Who you are

  • University degree with a scientific, engineering or technical focus; training (or equivalent experience) in Environmental Health and Safety
  • At least 5 years of experience in HSE, preferably in pharma
  • 2-3 years of experience as project leader in pharma environment
  • Project management skills and hands-on HSE experience in a matrix organization
  • Emergency management skills in relation to HSE incidents and first aid
  • Good analytical thinking, a structured working manner, ability to prioritize, plan and manage multiple tasks with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (communications, coaching, organizational skills and leadership mindset)
  • Business fluency in English and German
  • Independent, reliable team player with a good sense of humor
