World IBD Day takes place on 19 May every year and unites people from around the world in their fight against Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, known as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). In Europe alone, more than 3 million people suffer from these kind of chronic bowel diseases.
World IBD Day is led by patient organisations representing over 50 countries on five continents and is coordinated by the European Federation of Crohn’s & Ulcerative Colitis Association (EFCCA).
Every year, Tillotts supports local initiatives, events and activities to raise awareness on IBD and its impact on patient quality of life. In 2020, the global health situation is unusual compared to previous years. The Corona virus has spread to over 180 countries and thousands of people are infected and have died.
Due to this current situation with so many COVID-19 patients, the high risk of infection and a possible severe course of the disease for vulnerable patients, we refrain from activities this year. Tillotts will however, invite all employees and partners to wear the purple ribbon, the symbol of awareness and support for those living with IBD on 19th May 2020.
In lieu of new activities in 2020 we would like to look back on Tillotts' support in the past years.
